Mahmoud Rahmi was an Egyptian puppet designer and director, who was born in 1939. He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts and graduated with honors, after which he was offered a job as a teaching assistant, but passed it to focus on television work. He is best known for creating the puppet show Bougy and Tamtam, the most successful puppet show in Egyptian television history. He also created the character of "Boqloz", which was associated with the TV personality Nagwa Ibrahim. He died in 2001 at the age of 72.
