American writer, born in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. He studied English at the University of Missouri in Columbia, graduating in 1965. His works include Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Mommie Dearest, and Point of No Return. He died on October 21, 2017, in Monterey, California, United States.
