An Austrian-American film director, screenwriter, and producer, born on December 5, 1890, in Vienna, Austria. He studied at the Vienna University of Technology, and then studied painting in Paris. He is known for Metropolis (1927), M (1931), Fury (1936), and Contempt (1963). He died on August 2, 1976, in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California, USA.
