German film director, writer, and actor, born in Hannover, Germany. He worked for a short time as an editor for a local newspaper and a writer of gaming novels. During World War I, he also volunteered to work in occupied Brussels as a press supervisor. He co-starred in Metropolis (1927). He directed works such as Leb' wohl, Christina (1945), and Seine Tochter ist der Peter (1955). He died on December 22, 1987.
