A Syrian director and a graduate of the Higher Institute of Cinema in Sofia, Bulgaria, Department of Film Direction in 1993. He presented more than seven short fiction films, including: Spring Hoax (1993), Mirage (1998), and Penguin (2005). He won the Golden Falcon Award, and Best Short Fiction Film at the Rotterdam Arab Film Festival in the Netherlands. In addition, Fajr Yaqoub directed a number of documentaries, including: Cultural Alienation, Iraqis in Multi Classes Exile, and Behind the Camera. Furthermore, he writes screenplay and film criticism and has published poetry books, including: The Aesthetics of the Earthly Man, and The Dream Factory.
