American actress and producer, born on July 1, 1957, in Arkansas. She made her debut in Sam's Words (1969). After graduating from Jacksonville High School and studying theater at Valdosta State University, she took on several small television roles. She lived in Little Rock with her husband, actor Ray McKinnon. She won an Oscar as a producer in 2001 for the short action film The Accountant, which McKinnon directed and also starred in. She was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her performance as the best friend of "Debra Wagner" in the 1982 film An Officer and a Gentleman. She died on October 27, 2020, due to complications of a health condition.
