An American actress, born on August 2, 1962 in Fort Jackson, North Carolina. She moved a lot in her childhood due to the work of her father as a judge in the US Army. She majored in drama at the North Carolina School of Drama. Her first screen appearance in a small role in the TV series Ryan's Hope. She moved to New York in 1980 where she worked for the shoe company ECCO. She made her Broadway debut in 1990 in the lead role of Prelude to a Kiss. One of her most famous works is the Weeds series on Showtime. For her performance, she was nominated for several awards and won a Golden Globe Award in 2006. She appeared in many television series and films and won a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She also won a Tony Award for Best Actress for her role in the Broadway play Proof in 2001.
