American actor, born in Ohio, on February 1, 1901. At the age of sixteen, he left school and worked in a rubber factory, then in an oil factory. In 1924, he moved to Hollywood and met Josephine Dillon, the director of the Portland Theater, who helped and trained him. He worked in the movie White Man. He got married to Josephine, and he divorced her in 1930. Afterwards, he got married 4 times and the last one Kay Williams remained with him until he died. He died on November 19, 1960 of a heart attack and his wife was pregnant and after his death, she gave birth to his son John Clark, who did not see him. He won an Academy Award in 1934 for It Happened One Night. Among his most important films are : Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), Gone with the Wind (1939), and The Misfits, which was shown in 1961 after his death.
