Biography

A Kurdish film director from Syria, born in 1964. He began studying history and law at Damascus University from 1981 to 1985. In 1986, he moved to Czechoslovakia and studied directing with a focus on feature films, to graduate in 1993 with distinction and obtain a master's thesis...Read more in film and television directing. He worked on Czechoslovak television as a director, until the partition of Czechoslovakia, and after the partition he continued to work on Slovak television. Between 1990 and 1996, he participated in many TV and cinema dramas as an actor. He was directing a program on Swiss television for five years called Party People and participated in the filming and preparation of many other programs, before dedicating himself exclusively to cinema as a producer, director and independent director of photography for documentaries and feature films. He has directed 14 films so far, the most known of which are the two films Al Anfal (2005) and David der Tolhildan (2006). His films are subject to censorship. One of the most famous cases of ban is the ban on showing David der Tolhildan movie only hours before the show's time, after the intervention of the Turkish government. The Turkish intervention also succeeded in Singapore when representatives of Turkey were able to persuade the authorities there to cancel the screening of one of his films.
