An American writer and producer, born on July 1, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York. He won four Prime Emmy Awards, most notably for The Dick Van Dyke Show. Among his works are the series That Girl, and the movies The Princess Diaries and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. He died on July 8, 2011, in Brentwood, California.
