American actress born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Director Gail Levin found her while she was looking for someone to play Ellen Grape in director Lasse Hallstrom's and actor Johnny Depp film, What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993). After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University School of the Arts, she moved to Los Angeles, where she started working in television and film again. She is known for Apollo 13 (1995) and Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home (1995).
