German writer and actor born on 26 March 1949 in Ambach, Bavaria, Germany. His father was writer and journalist Wilhelm Emanuel Süskind. He studied medieval and modern history at the University of Munich. His most notable works include the novel Das Parfum, which was adapted into the famous film Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006). His other works as a writer include Rossini (1997) and Kir Royal (1986).
