She earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from St. Xavier's College and went on to obtain a master's degree from the University of Mumbai. Her most notable works include Kahaani (2012), Carry On, Munna Bhai (2006), Parineeta (2005), and The Dirty Picture (2011).
