American writer, producer, and director. He was born in Alabama, United States. After earning his degree from Northwestern State University in Louisiana, he went on to Tulane University School of Law in New Orleans to earn his Juris Doctor. However, he did not practice law, but he participated in singing after joining a band for a short period. He is known for Steel Magnolias (1989) and Soapdish (1991).
