An Italian author, director, producer and actor, born on May 27, 1956 in Bagheria, Sicily, Italy. He participated in Cinema Paradiso, which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film. He also won the British BAFTA Award in 1991 for the movie Cinema Paradiso. Among his most notable works: The Legend of 1900 in 1998 and Malèna in 2000.
