American screenwriter, director, and producer, born in Los Angeles, California. He partnered with writer George Lucas at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, and they became members of an American group of directors. He directed four films that he co-wrote with writer Gloria Katz, such as Howard the Duck (1986) and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984).
