American playwright and novelist, born in New York, United States. He became famous for writing musical plays, and he won the Pulitzer Prize in 1991 for the play "Lost In Yonkers." He also adapted many of his novels for the movie screen. In addition, he wrote the original scripts for many films. He is known for The Odd Couple (1968) and Murder by Death (1976).
