He was a film historian who began his career when he was a high school student writing for the magazine "Al-Sabah" in 1932. He became the editor of El Kawakeb magazine from 1980 till 1983. He made an important study on the history of cinema in Egypt which was published in 1945 in the "Cinema Magazine". He appeared in the film Titawong (1937).
