An actor, writer, and director, who worked as an assistant director in documentaries and television productions in the United States, in addition to his work in a number of films and plays in New York. He also worked on the Arabic dialogue in the screenplay of the film Looking for Oum Kulthum, directed by Sherin Neshat. He co-wrote the screenplay for the films Winter of Discontent (2012), and Ali, The Goat and Ibrahim (2016). Amer's first feature film as a director is Kiss Me Not.
