A Canadian actress, writer, and director, born in 1963 in Chicago, United States. Her parents were both scientists; her father was an atmospheric physicist and her mother was also a physicist. She began her career in 1986. She appeared in several TV series. Her notable work includes The Newsroom (1997-2005), Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001), and Man of the Year (2006).
