A British art director and and production designer, born in Glamorgan, Wales. He then moved with his family to London, England, before studying architecture at Willesden Technical College. He began working as an art director throughout the seventies and eighties. He won the Academy Award for Best Art Direction twice, for Star Wars (1977) and Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981). His other credits include The Abyss, Pay It Forward, and Men of Honor.
