An English director, born in London, England. He was sent to boarding school at the age of six and later educated at Eton College, a public boarding school in Windsor, England, before moving to France. He headed a documentary film production company with his two partners, Robert Brownjohn and David Cammell. He was a member of the jury of the Sarajevo Film Festival in 2008. He's known for Chariots of Fire (1981) and I Dreamed of Africa (2000).
