He won an Oscar for Best Picture for co-producing Shakespeare in Love (1998).


In October 2017, he was fired from The Weinstein Company following several allegations of sexual misconduct that broke out in "The New York Times" early that same month.


He co-founded the entertainment company Miramax with his brother, Bob Weinstein, in 1979, as well as The Weinstein Company (TWC) in 2005.


He was sentenced to 23 years in prison on 11 March 2020, after being convicted on charges of third-degree criminal sexual acts and first-degree rape.
