An American illustrator, character designer, and screenwriter, born in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. He studied communications at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and then began writing ideas for advertisements. He wrote short stories, and then began writing comics at Marvel through three comic books in 1972. He also wrote television animated series, such as G.I. Joe, as well as The Transformers. He died of complications from pulmonary fibrosis on February 10, 2008.
