American film producer born on 28 July 1916 in New York City, New York, US. He attended Stanford and Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He began his career as a journalist before working at 20th Century Fox Studios then Warner Bros. later on. He founded his own production company The Manhattan Project Ltd, in 1988. His most notable works include The Player (1992), Cocoon (1985), Deep Impact (1998), and Jaws (1975). He married once and had one child. He died on 1 February 2010 in New York City, New York, US.
