An American actor, born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. He studied at Yale University on a scholarship in 1958. He studied history, French, and theater, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1962. After graduating from Yale University, he moved to New York. He also studied at the Sorbonne University in Paris, France. He began his career in theater in New York, where he appeared in a number of productions of William Shakespeare. He is also a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His credits include Second Chances (1977) and The Newsroom (2012).
