An American producer, born on August 1, 1950, in Israel, to parents who immigrated from Poland during the 1948 war. In 1970, he moved to the United States and joined Hofstra University to study industrial management. He worked as a truck driver and a Hebrew language teacher to cover the costs of his studies, and obtained a bachelor’s degree in 1972. He and his partner in Toy Bees entered into a conflict with Carl Icahn and Ron Perlman over control of Marvel Comics, due to its bankruptcy in 1996. The dispute ended with Toy Bees acquiring Marvel Comics engaged in a complex deal that involved acquiring the rights to Spider-Man and other previously sold-out superheroes. He was involved in getting Marvel out of bankruptcy and expanding the company by licensing and movies based on comics.
