A Hungarian-American chess grandmaster and writer, born in Budapest, Hungary. Her family moved to the United States, where she competed in the American University Championship. She founded the Susan Polgar Institute for Chess Excellence at Webster University, Missouri, in 2012. She pointed out at the time that chess lacks the support that other sports enjoy. She appeared in a number of documentaries and works about chess, such as Bobby Fischer Against the World.
