Rainn Wilson is an American actor, born in Washington, on January 20, 1966, to a writer and businessman father and a yoga instructor and actress mother. Wilson took interest in music in his youth and joined his high school’s band. He studied acting at several prestigious schools and universities and worked at the beginning of his career in many theatrical performances. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he began to enter the world of film and television; he took short roles in TV series such as One Life to Live, Charmed, and Dark Angel. He also participated in movies such as Galaxy Quest, Almost Famous, and America's Sweethearts. In 2005, he managed to get a key role in the new series The Office, which became a major hit once it aired and was his real starting point and earned him three Emmy nominations.
