A Scottish writer and producer, born in 1955. John studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh and worked as a doctor in the United Kingdom, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, the Solomon Islands, and the former Soviet Union. In addition to his film and television work, he wrote three novels: "Kingsley's Touch," "Paper Mask," and "The Rig." His films include Master and Commander, Happy Feet, and Creation. He is married, has three children, and lives in Sydney, Australia.
