Biography

Algerian writer, born on August 6, 1929 in Constantine, French Algeria, now Algeria. He attended the Sedrata Quran school in 1937, and in 1941, he enrolled in the colonial Collège of Setif as a boarder. After participating in the demonstrations of May 8, 1945, he was imprisoned...Read more at the age of no more than 16 years, and this had the effect of his writings. A year later, he released his first poetry collection, "Moanagah" (Soliloquy). He was a journalist at the daily 'Alger Républicain' between 1949 and 1951. He became a member of the Algerian Communist Party. Before his death, he held several positions, including the position of theatre director at Sidi Bel Abbes Regional Theater. He died on October 28, 1989 in Grenoble, Isère, France.
