An American author and teacher, born in California, United States. She obtained a master's degree from California State University, Long Beach. She began teaching in 1994 at Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, and then began writing. She wrote the book “The Freedom Writers Diary,” which was adapted into the movie Freedom Writers (2007), starring Hilary Swank.
