An Irish playwright and poet born in Dublin, Ireland. He studied at Portora Royal School then received a scholarship to study classics at Trinity College. Some notable adaptations of his works include Importance of Being Earnest: East Meets West, The Canterville Ghost, and The Picture of Dorian Gray. He died on 30 November 1900 in Paris, France.
