Irish playwright, novelist, and poet born on 16 October 1854 in Dublin, Ireland. He studied at Portora Royal School then received a scholarship to study classics at Trinity College. Some notable adaptations of his works include Importance of Being Earnest: East Meets West, The Canterville Ghost, The Picture of Dorian Gray, and Dorian Gray. He died on 30 November 1900 in Paris, France.
