A Russian-American actor, born in Kharkiv, Ukraine. He was the brother of actress Tamara Shayne. Before he could joined the Moscow Arts Theatre, World War I broke out and put a stop to his artistic career as he joined the army, after which he resumed his career. He is known for The Stranger (1946) and Christmas Eve (1947).
