An American actor, born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the United States. His artistic career spanned nearly thirty years. Among his notable works are St. Elsewhere (1982-1988), The Ninth Configuration (1980), and Harry S. Truman: Plain Speaking (1976). He won three Emmy Awards and a Tony Award.
