Born in New York City, on October 17, 1907. He was a familiar performer in films and television, best remembered for his roles in Love Story (1970), and The Godfather (1972). He began his career in a Broadway production, which was disrupted with his service in the US Army Signal Corps during World War II. His post-war film credits consisted mostly of unsympathetic little roles until he earned as a middle-aged actor in the 1960s and 1970s. Thus, he appeared in notable films such as Baloo Cat (1965), Faces (1968), Flying Dishes (1971), and Pose (1975). He died in Los Angeles, California, May 22, 1984, following heart surgery at the age of 77.
