An American actor and film director, born on January 10, 1908. He's known for playing Victor Laszlo in Casablanca (1942). He began acting in German films in the 1930s. In 1935, he emigrated from Austria to Great Britain a year after the Austrian Civil War (1934). His credits include The Madwoman of Chaillot (1969), Thief of Damascus (1952), and Night Train to Munich (1940). He died on March 29,1992.
