• A Palestinian poet, born to a Palestinian Druze family in the Jordanian city of Zarqa. He is considered one of the most prominent poets of Palestine. He was educated in the...Read more schools of Rama and Nazareth. He taught in a school, then devoted himself to his political activity in the Communist Party before leaving the party and devoting himself to his literary work. He was imprisoned more than once and was placed under house arrest because of his poetry and political stances. A prolific poet whose poetry deals with the Palestinian struggle and suffering, and by the time he was thirty, he had published six poetry collections that gained wide fame in the Arab world. He also wrote a number of novels. He's known for Thunderbirds (1988) and With My Own Eyes (1981). He died on 19 August 2014.
