An Italian actor, born on October 20, 1967 in Palermo, Sicily, Italy. He has four siblings, and actor Luigi Maria Burruano is his uncle, while he's cousin of actor Elio Lo Cascio. He married Desideria Rayner, and they have two sons, Tommaso Isidoro and Arturo Tito. He studied medicine with the intention of becoming a psychiatrist. He started performing with a group of street actors in Palermo. In 1989, he got a small part in a theatrical production, Waiting for Godot. He then gave up medical school, and went to Rome to attend the Silvio D'Amico Academy of Dramatic Arts. He won the David di Donatello Award for Best Leading Actor for his role in One Hundred Steps (2000). His works include The Best of Youth (2003) and The Ideal City (2012).
