Japanese artist, born in Takaoka, Japan in 1953. She traveled to New York in 1972 to study art. She met Ushio six months after she got there and they had a baby and then got married. Her first solo exhibition was in 1986. The International Center for Printing in New York presented her work in one of its 2003 quarterly publications. The following year, the Davis Museum at Wellesley College in Boston added some of her work to its permanent collection. She's known for the documentary Cutie and the Boxer (2013).
