A German director and writer, born in Mainz, Germany. He studied the German language and art history, then studied music. His beginning was in theater directing at the Staatstheater Mainz, then his activities continued in several theaters. He was a jury member at the 6th Berlin International Film Festival. After World War II, he continued his cinematic work, and he also presented works on television. Some of his credits include The Thief of Bagdad (1940) and Dream Ballerina (1950).
