A German-born Australian writer and actor, born in Luban, Lower Silesia, Germany, to Lithuanian parents. He attended Fort Street High School in Sydney, Australia. He graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art in 1965. He worked as head of directing at the Australian National Institute of Dramatic Art for nine years until 2007, and he taught directing at the Australian Academy of Dramatic Art. He is known for The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions (2003).
