A German-born Australian writer and actor. He was born in Luban, in Lower Silesia, Germany, to Lithuanian parents. He attended Fort Street High School in Sydney, Australia. He graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art in 1965. He worked as director at the Australian National Institute of Dramatic Arts for nine years, and until 2007, he taught directing at the Australian Academy of Dramatic Arts. He is known for The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions (2003).
