An Indian actress who was born in Pune, India, to a Sindhi family. She married Ravi Dube in 1978. Her daughter Nihi and Ira are also actresses, and her sister Lachen Dube is an actress and theater director. Among the films she has appeared in are Monsoon Wedding, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Baghban, and Bow Barracks Forever in which she starred with her daughter Nihi. In addition to her acting career, she is also a praised theater director and founder of the theater movement group in India. She directed several plays, including Dance Like a Man, which is the longest theatrical show in English, and presented it 497 times in different places, including two consecutive weeks in one of the theaters of the famous Broadway road in New York, in the United States.
