An Indian producer and director, born on November 8, 1932 in Punjab, Pakistan. He is considered one of the most successful filmmakers in Bollywood and was nicknamed 'the king of romance' for his romantic films. He made his directorial debut in Dhool Ka Phool (1959), after which he directed dozens of films, the last of which was Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012). Some of his works include Dil To Pagal Hai, Veer-Zaara, and Deewaar. His company, Yash Raj Films, was one of the largest production companies in India, as it produced more than 50 films, most of which met with massive success. He died of dengue fever in Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai on October 21, 2012.
