An Indian actor, born in Talaganj, British India. He completed his Master's degree in Economics and Politics during the Partition Crisis. He was visiting Patiala with his family for a wedding when riots broke out in Lahore. He worked in Jalandhar for a while, and his family remained in Delhi before eventually moving to Bombay, where he appeared in Bollywood. His most notable works include Lawrence of Arabia (1962), Death on the Nile (1978), Johny Mera Naam (1970), Teesri Aankh (1982), and Do Premee (1980). He won the Filmfare Award for Best Comedian in 1971 for his role in Johny Mera Naam. He died on March 10, 1984, in Mumbai, India.
