A British actor, born in Lima, Peru to a British father and an American mother. After his family returned to Britain, he joined St Lawrence College, Ramsgate, then became a drama coach at the Guildford School of Acting. He also worked for a short period in an insurance company in Liverpool before volunteering to fight in World War I. He then joined the Royal College of Music and then the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Some of his credits include Quo Vadis (1951) and The Way Ahead (1944). He was married to Avril Voules. He died in Surrey, England.
