A British actress, born in London, England. She studied acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatics Art. Some of her credits include Babel (2006) and The Crown (2016). She was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 2000 Queen's Millennium Honours List. She also won the Laurence Olivier Award for her roles in the plays Three Sisters, A Question of Geography, and Twelfth Night.
