An American singer and songwriter, born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He moved to Los Angeles, California, when she was seven years old. She began singing in a gospel band during her teenage years and continued with it for four years before being discovered by songwriter Ed Cobb, who wrote and produced a number of songs for her. Her song "Heartbeat", which she performed in 1966, became an inspiration for a number of singers thanks to its distinctive rhythmic tone. Some of her credits include Sightseers (2012) and Phenomenon (1996).
