American actor and activist with American Indian roots, he was the founder of an independent American media organization called: American Indian Movement. He was born on November 10, 1939. He first emerged in 1970 when he was among a group of American Indians who occupied Mount Rushmore. He participated in a number of works, including: Pocahontas (1995), Pathfinder (2007), and The Last of the Mohicans (1992). He died on his farm in South Dakota after a long battle with throat cancer and died on October 22, 2012.
