He is a Canadian director and cartoonist, born on June 1, 1970, in Sault Ste. Marie, Canada. He is one of the founders of the Hickee humor anthology as well as the author of the Alternative Comics-published comic book Grickle. He is known for The Boxtrolls (2014), Kubo and the Two Strings (2016), and ParaNorman (2012). He is married to Malena Annable, with whom he has two children.
